A Tour of the Hawaii Legislature Website

The Hawaii legislature has done a terrific job of making as much information as possible available to you, the citizen, as possible. Ten years ago, anyone wanting to follow a bill, be it paid lobbyist or citizen activist, had to visit the Capitol to read the daily hearing notices, visit the Printshop to pick up copies of bills, and wait for weeks after the end of the session to get copies of testimony. Now you can do all that from the comfort of your home or office.

Let me take you on a tour of the legislature’s website and show you where to find out what the text of a bill says, whether it’s been amended, which committees are hearing it, and what testimony has been submitted on it. In future videos, I’ll delve into these areas in detail, but this week the goal is an overview to help familiarize yourself with some key information available on the website.
